First child born to Joseph F. and Dorothy E. Spacco on May the 4th, 1952 in Boston MA. Joey (as he was called) was named after his father and godfather (Sylvester Joseph Spacco). He spent his childhood living in his grandparent's home on Mill St. in Dorchester where he attended Saint Ambrose School, The Mary Hemmingway Elementary School and The Woodrow Wilson Jr. High. In 1966 his parents moved to Randolph, MA where he attended The J.F.K Jr. High and Randolph High School.
At the age of eighteen Joey moved into the city of Boston where he worked as disk jockey in various nightclubs and took the stage name of Valario Bernasconi. He was a member of The New England Disk Jockey's Association, where he filed reports of his audiences' response to new music, who in turn reported to Billboard Magazine. Along with working in nightclubs he played at several circuit parties for Los Pappagayos (a men's social organization). He was the sound and lighting coordinator for The May Day Party, Emerald City and The Red White & Blue Party. In 1975 he received an honorary mention on Scepter Records' Disco Gold LP for his contributions to the dance music industry. In 1982 he was voted Boston's disk jockey of the year by Boston's Tommy's Magazine. He also wrote a music review column for a local underground publication. He later he changed his first name to Valario.
In December of 1992 Val met his partner, Gary Macedo while working in a local nightclub. At the age of forty he proceeded to make a career change. On account of his knowledge of DOS he was hired by a local Insurance/Investment firm to maintain their computer system. He is now the office manager with that firm. Val and his partner Gary reside in New Bedford, MA with their dog Odo.
Val enjoys the theatre, collecting and listing to music, digital photography, traveling, tinkering with computers and researching and preserving his family's history with his cousin Jimmy.
