THE PASSENGER RECORD

   The information on passenger records comes from passenger lists, called "ship manifests." Passengers were asked a series of questions; their answers were entered in the manifests. Ellis Island inspectors then used the manifests to examine immigrants.

Built for Navigazione Generale Itlaliana Line, Italian flag, in 1908 and named Duca degli Abruzzi. Italy-New York service. Scrapped in 1929

This ship was built built by Cantiere Navale Riuniti, La Spezia, Italy, 1908. 7,838 gross tons; 476 (bp) feet long; 53 feet wide. Steam quadruple expansion engines, twin screw. Service speed 16 ? knots. 1,836 passengers (80 first class, 16 second class, 1,740 third class).

The distance between New York City and Naples Italy is 4413 miles (7102 km) (3835 nautical miles) as the crow flies. This information can be used to estimate the travel time of the voyage. The passage would have taken approximately two weeks.
